These Australian-grown almonds, have been blanched to remove their skins and sliced into slivers. They have a naturally crunchy texture and a delightfully more-ish, sweet, nutty flavour. Unroasted and unsalted, these almonds are versatile in use, perfect for adding into salads, baked goods, mueslis and more. They are white or creamy in colour due to the removal of the thin brown husk by blanching which involves putting the nuts in boiling water briefly to remove their skins. The nuts are then sliced into thinner pieces "slivers " and packaged.
Almonds are the super-nut of the tree nut family, boasting a high protein, fibre, healthy fat, vitamin E and mineral content. They are used in cooking, mostly in cakes and biscuits or added to trail mixes.
